So I get an email today from Shauna, asking me to call her, or give her a number to call me. Now, I've never been able to deny her anything, so I call her. I'm already expecting to hear that Ed had passed away.

Never did I think that it'd be Sandi that died.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/obituaries/individual_display.jsp?obitID=4372164

From what I understand, there was some kind of bad reaction with some medications. We don't know yet, and probably won't know.

For those whose journals I've posted on, saying "thanks for posting," it was because you obviously were close to her, or close enough to feel the pain that we all are feeling right now.

Sandi and I met in 1992, thanks to Shauna. How Shauna and I met is another story.

We first met at my school play. I was..some character or another. All I know for sure is that I went out into the audience before the play was over so that I could sit with her for a while.

heh..we were married before we met, too...not legally, of course...we were still in High School.

For those casting blame, yeah, I'm the reason she went up to Alaska in 95. I'm the reason Shauna went to Alaska. I take no blame for her still being there, tho. Well...maybe a little.

The further along I go, the more regrets I end up having. I regret the lies I told her (which she found out about, anyhow), I regret not having more time with her, I regret the fights we got into over stoooopid things, I regret not being there for her when she needed me...

But I'll never regret loving her.

Never.

I may be in Vegas on Tuesday for the service. I'll see what I can do.

Boink.

I boink because I care. I know it's been forever and a day since I've updated, for which I apologize. Hell, I'm not even sure that it'll accept an entry from me. We'll find out.

Things have been good since last we spoke. Most people know that I've recently been promoted to supervisor of my little shift. I'm still on 3rd shift, which I love. I'm in charge now. Phear my big ass boots.

Along with the promotion came a nice raise. I'm happy. :)

I'm pretty sure that I told ya'll that my wife had gotten a new Durango, somewhere along my last post. Or..ya got told somehow. Doesn't matter. What matters is that this big ass beast is now mine. It's a good ride, but jeebus, it's a fricken tank. I'm not used to driving such a huge vehicle. I'm sure I'll get comfortable in it, with time, but I'd much rather trade it in for something smaller, like an Escape (Ford) or maybe a Kia Sorento. Something small, nice to drive, etc.

My children are doing well. Shelbie is 3 now, and completely cracks me up. She's still got me wrapped around her finger, but she also is gettin to know when she's pushin the line with me. But she DOES like to push.

Philip is 8, and in 3rd grade. We still have some problems with him, but imo, he's trying to learn. He's just got bad judgement from time to time, and we have to correct him. He doesn't like that much, so it makes it that much harder. One day, tho, it'll hit him like a ton of bricks, what he's doing wrong, and things will be good.

Recently, I discovered, or rediscovered, Pogo.com. That's taken up a lot of my online time, at home. Of course, it doesn't work from work, but I can't have everything. lol

In June, we converted to a new alarm monitoring system. Obviously, I can't talk too much about that, but it's interesting. We also inherited a LOT of new branches from NY, CT, NJ, and a bunch more in TX. That's why I've been so damn busy, and not spending as much time online.

Other than that, really, there is no new news in my life. Nothing major, anyhow.

This will serve as a post to see who still reads me. lol

Greetings! I haven't seen who's taken me off their friend list due to inactivity, but I'll just go on the assumption that I still have at least one viewer out there...

I'm sorry I've been away for so long. Life has been quite hectic. We doubled our workload at work, which has been making me increasingly waspish with people.

The wife's father died May 4th. That was a very difficult situation for us all.

The kids are fine...Philip is out of school for the summer, so he'll be going to 2nd grade next year, providing he lives that long. He's been a royal pain in the ass recently, gettin into much trouble everyday. It's a stage, tho...he'll get over it eventually.

Shelbie is doing well..she's 2 now, and talking up a storm. She has her bouts with trouble as well, but it's manageable.

We bought a Dodge Durango last week. Finally got our new vehicle!

Work sucks, but I finally got what I needed for my forum..that's taken quite a bit of time, too.

I'm a professional admin now...I admin on 3 different forums and advise on a couple others..

I'll leave this for now...see if anyone notices that I've posted.

Talk to you folks soon.

Mood: mellow

Since I have a few minutes between golf and the cocktail hour, I thought I'd actually take a few minutes and do what I been promising to do for weeks now. Update my journal.

Can you believe it? Me, Murph, the LJ user who never updates, is actually making a journal entry!

Blame [info]yayheaven. I think it was her complaint that I hadn't posted in forever that threw me over the top.

So, where to begin? I know it's been a while, so let's just get to ranting...

Everyone knows my pet project, my forum. That's been a severe pain in the hind quarters over the past few weeks. No details, because this is a family friendly journal entry.

Anyhow, I've also been recruited (actually, I volunteered) to admin at another ULC forum for a while to help with some of the logistics. Some things just ain't working the way they're supposed to, so I stepped up and am trying to figure it all out.

Now that that's outta the way, let's talk about home. Not too bad, all things considered. Jen went to nights a couple weeks ago. That means that she works nights, and I work nights. (Before anyone asks, her 14 year old neice watches the kids, and most nights, Jen's sister is here, too.)

Initially I thought that it would give me more time to sleep, but I figured early on that it was designed to give HER more time to sleep. Can't bitch about that, really, because she was runnin a little low on sleep. And she does take the kids to school some mornings, so that's a help. It makes things more interesting at work, tho, because now I can call her, since she works for a company that's contracted (for Corp. Real Estate) to MY company. At least I know she'll get things done. The other two girls workin with her aren't really that...dedicated.

So of course, with the changes to Jen's schedule, her sister (who still lives with us) started throwin fits. Mainly because it means that SHE (Jen's sister) can't go out and pork other guys, because we're working. I think Gerri needs to sit back and realize that not only are we raising her kids, but we're also payin out the ass for them to keep living well. Food, electricity, kids to school, back again, etc etc etc. I think all this is worth her watchin our kids once in a while so we can go to work.

I cannot bitch too much about that, because in a sense, it is free child care, and at night. But sometimes...I just get aggrivated.

Shelbie is now saying (most of) her ABC's. She's getting so big. It's unreal. I PROMISE, sometime soon I'll get pictures of everyone and put them online somewhere so ya'll can go ahh and oooh..

Philip...straightened up for a bit, but he's slippin back into his old ways. I'm seriously considering sending him to some kind of boot camp to curb his attitude. I don't know what the deal is with that kid, but I swear....

Of course, since Jen's been goin to work on Saturday nights, it means I'm off (more or less) of my RHPS. I haven't gone once since she started, but I DID go see Monty Python and the Holy Grail at the theater last week. That was very cool.

We moved work locations recently. Well, about a month ago. Now, instead of drivin 5 miles to work, I drive 15. Not that bad, really, but 30 miles a night adds up pretty quick on the old milage. Still workin on gettin a new vehicle. (Incidentally, if anyone wants to cosign....lol)

We hired this new girl, Michelle. What a dolt. She's got as much brains as a rock. And she swears she holds 2 college degrees. *sigh*

Not much else going on right now. I guess if I think of anything, I'll jump on it and post it.

It's been so long since I've updated, I'm sure most of my friends have said "His account must have been closed due to inactivity, so I'll just unfriend him.

That leaves just you, and me.

I think the last thing I said was "I need to update."

And I haven't really been back since.

First of all...someone was nice enough to give me 2 months of paid LJ time. I'd like whoever did it to step forward so I can thank them properly.

Unfortunately, I've not been around much to be able to do anything with it, so after I finish this, maybe I'll go see what being a paid member has to offer.

Work is going all right. I'm currently on vacation for this week. I have 2.5 weeks saved up, and I need to get rid of them, or lose them. So, I'm blowing them by staying at home and not doing a damn thing. Next month, on Oct 25-26, we're moving to our new site. Of course, I have to work overtime, but hey, I expected it. Should be pretty neat. The only downside is the fact that we're about a half mile from the airport, and right in the flight path. Once we're inside, it's all right, but my smoke breaks will be interrupted by very loud airplanes.

I'm even taking a break from my forum (hush, Sotik and Hope) so that's not even something that's on my mind as much. I have full faith in my fellow admins and my underling moderators >:).

Since we last spoke, I have actually been to the Rocky Horror Picture Show TWICE! With my sister, no less. I told my mom this weekend that since my sister's now 18, she's all right. Not great, but all right. (I was mean to both of my sisters whilst growing up. It was a territorial thing.)
RHPS was pretty cool. A couple things I'd do differently, but it's not my pony to ride, ya know? Met the admin from my RHPS forum (http://www.azrocky.com/bb) and saw some of the others. I'm not really all that active, so I haven't made myself known to many of them. They wouldn't care. LOL Some VERY cute women there, tho. Reminds me of why I started goin in the first place. Of course...most are lesbians, but who cares? I'm not out lookin for any on the side, just looking. :)

The kids are doing all right. Shelbie has gotten to the point where she's saying no when we ask her or tell her to do stuff. It's..interesting, I suppose. She's a lil brat, but she knows when to be cute. Philip's had his ups and downs. He actually started being good this weekend, but, as usual, he blew it. I don't know how much more I can take of him...

Jen's doing pretty good. She won an award (if you can call it that) at work for having the best calls, etc. She won a $25 gift certificate for borders. Which, of course, she gave to me. She doesn't read that much. I, on the other hand, have about 50 books that I'm ready to get rid of, and about 30 more that I'm keeping. Haven't quite decided what I'm gonna get yet.

Jen and I hooked her sister and my best friend up. That's goin pretty well, except he's always working. He's got his ex sister in law, her boyfriend, and her daughter all living with him, and for a couple months, he was paying for everything. We make pretty decent money, but not enough for him to get by on. So he's got a second job. Hence, very little time for a personal life. But he's trying.

A lot has gone on over the past month or so, but I don't remember enough to make a big point of writing it all down. Let's just say it's been interesting and let it go at that.

With any luck, I'll be online a bit more from now on. Sorry for keeping ya'll in suspense. [/sarcasm]

Doncha just hate it when ya think ya know a person, or people, and they turn around and stab ya in the back for doing what ya think is right?

Oh yes, it happened to me. ME! Murph! I know, I know..I couldn't believe it either.

Sure, I'm not perfect. I never claimed to be. I do what I can to make the world around me a better place. Try to make a difference, tho, and I'm fucked.

Nice.

[/bitch session]

So anyhow, I'm working by myself 2 nights a week. Just finished my first session. Not bad, except tonight I got really busy doing stupid shit. Fuckin second shift left me a bunch of stupid alarms to deal with, and knowing how busy it can be, said "Have a good day!" and left. Fuckers.

BUT, I did it, because I know what I'm doin. Can't wait for this weekend, when the other guy has to do it. That should be good for a laugh or two. I need it.

Yeah, I'm bitter. You would be to, if ya felt what I feel.

No, I'm not goin into it, because it'll just get me more pissed off.

Since I'm starting to get yelled at on a more frequent basis, I guess I'd better update.

Let's see...I've gotten over my 'tude from my birthday. Forgive me?

Work's been a little odd...Apparently, my shift is gonna get weird. Used to be, we needed at LEAST 2 people in there, for 3rd shift. Well, starting Monday, 2 nights a week, I'll be by myself. 2 nights a week, the other guy will be by himself. 3 days a week, we'll both be there. I'll be by myself until at least 5am. It's a good thing, really, because the other guy is starting to get on my nerves. I may have to kill him soon.

I told ya'll about my coworker who was laid off..His last day is monday. Well, another co worker put in his notice last week. His last day is next friday. So, we'll be short an employee. SOTIK! (I know, wishful thinking.)

The wife is all right. She's pissed, and I don't blame her, because the kids don't let her sleep when she gets home. She gets, on average, about 2 hours of sleep a night. It's not fair to her, but I don't know what to do. I woke the kids up as soon as I got home this morning and put them to work. Told my niece to keep them up all day, until about 15 minutes before Jen gets home. That way, they'll sleep, and she'll sleep. Hopefully it'll help.

Philip is still Philip. I told him yesterday I was gonna send him to boot camp. His lyin is gettin old real damn quick. It's gettin to be so constant, we can tell before he answers if he's gonna lie or not. It's ridiculous. There's no reason for it. We keep trying to explain that it'll go a lot easier if he tells the truth in the first place, but he's not gettin it. And he's not stupid! He knows what he's doin is wrong, but he does it anyhow (no I'm not gonna put him in therapy/on drugs.) I've tried rewarding him when he IS good (rare) by taking him to the park. But as soon as he's done playin, he turns back into an asshole, and is pleased that he got his way. ARGH!

Shelbie's growin more each day. Gettin into more, being "cute" more so she don't get in trouble. *rolls eyes* It don't always work, but sometimes it do. She's learning quick, tho. I tell her to get my shoes, and she grabs them and brings them to me. She's 15 months old. Some days, it seems like longer..LOL

Okay. For those who are followin the saga of the great car trade in:

Went down to the Ford dealership on Saturday. The guy said he had it all worked out. Could get me outta the van, get the wife outta her Focus, get me INTO a Ford Explorer Sport, and her into an F-150. Hey, that's cool. Total, the payments woulda jumped $400 a month. Ouch, but...okay. We said, that's including the full payoff on the focus, right? They were showin that it was only $10000 owed. BullSHIT! We JUST got that damn thing. It's gonna be $20000, at least! "No, no, it's not on the credit, this is all it is, it's cool, don't worry about it." Fine. Drove it Sunday (since we didn't get home till midnight.) Monday morning, they tell us (surprise) "looks like the payoff is $10000 more than we thought." NO SHIT! We only told them that 4 times. Ya think ONCE they mighta listened? Hell NO!
So, we took them back. Handed the keys to the asshole who swore up and down it was gonna be okay, and said "We want our cars, our title, our registration, and our check. NOW." The whole time the guy kept apologizing. Jen shut him up. "Shoulda fuckin listened to us in the first place, we wouldn't have this problem." What dicks.
Most dealerships in the area will hold yer check for downpayment for 21 days. This place gave us till the end of the week. 6 days to come up with $2000? I don't fuckin think so. I'm happy if you got $2000 just sittin around doin nothin, but I don't. I'm a fat boy, I gotta eat. :)
Anyhow, I'm not really TOO bitter, because I wasn't really that comfortable payin that much more for some vehicles....even if I DID like the Explorer Sport. A lot.
(Yes, I'm still workin on it. :) Gettin a deal thru work, just waitin for a call back to see what I can do.)

In other news...

Jen brings home this turtle the other day. A friend at work gave it to her. I'm not all that keen on turtles. They're slow, lazy, stink, and have no entertainment value. Well, apparently this lil guy knows this. He's always watchin me when I come around, and he's kinda cute. So I reach in and pet his head...he digs it. *rolleyes* He swims pretty quick, too...he's all right for a turtle. (What the hell is the name of the big turtle on "Finding Nemo?")

Murph (the ferret) doesn't really care. As long as he gets his food, he's happy. He's still my guy, tho. I take him out and chase him around the room for a while, and he loves it. He don't get out much, tho, because Shelbie is scared of him. It's okay. He don't like her much either. LOL

I've given up on my quest for a cockatiel. It's gonna cost about $200 to set up, and it'd just squawk all day. Wouldn't ahve time to train him, so...nah. I'll get a remote control airplane instead. :) (It's a dream I've always had.)

First, tho, I need new glasses. It's time.

Okay, I've talked enough for a while.

First of all, thanks for the Birthday greetings if ya passed them on.

Saturday the 5th was my 27th birthday. Of course, we held the "party" on the 4th. Big BBQ, went to the fireworks, and all that. It was pretty cool, because members of my family came from all over. My aunt and uncle came from CO. My other uncle came from JAPAN. My cousins came from all over the valley of da sun. 33 people in one house. Lotsa lotsa kids.

Took Jen out to Applebee's Sat afternoon with some of my birthday cash. Was nice to get outta the house and just go somewhere decent. She DID end up spillin her "bahama mama" all over her seat, but it made it memorable.

Let's see. Work's goin okay. I get to start testing again. 1148 branches. Yippee.

Shelbie's cuttin teeth again, and feeling sick. she's been sleepin alot, so hopefully she gets over this soon.

Philip...is Philip. No major changes. Caught him in the fridge at 5 this mornin. He waited for Jen to leave for work, and was in there. Got into some of the food. *rolleyes* It's not like he was hungry, since he had 3 big bowls of Ravioli for dinner last night. He said, "Because I knew it didn't belong to me." Uh huh.

I love my son, I really do. I just don't understand why he has to do all this bullshit. It's irritating.

All right. I'm bitchy, so I'll close. Thanks for listening...

well..since I'm here...

I opened my journal to check on my newest recruit [info]keenie. So, since I'm here, and I didn't get a chance to post Monday because I've been workin since LAST monday, I figured I'll take a few moments to update.

Not much goin on, really.. Finally talked to the boss about the college thing. Showed him the difference between UoP and Glendale Community College. (UoP=$422 per credit hour. GCC=$46 per credit hour) I told him that once I got ready, I'd resubmit the paperwork, so HIS boss knows what I'm doing, and go from there. Hell, at $138 per class, I might not even need the Tuition reimbursement. (I'll get it anyhow, because I have no problem makin work pay for my school.)

Kids are gettin on my nerves. Shelbie figured out how to scream, and does so..constantly. All day. The brat. I've actually had to yell at her to stop.

Philip's just being a little asshole. I don't know what his deal is these days, but he's REALLY gettin on my last nerve. I'm gonna bop him. He emptied my shavin cream into the toilet, and did the same thing with Jen's mousse. He's irritating the hell outta both of us. And it's buggin Jen because she tries to take a nap when she comes home, and he won't let her sleep. so she's irritated, with good reason.

Other than the above, Jen is doin well. She's irritated at work, but when we;re together, it's goin good. :)

Tested all my branches last week. FINALLY..which means my past couple days at work have been dedicated to gettin the logs set up for the NEXT testing period...July 1 thru the end of the year. Added 15 branches in the past few months (that I DIDN'T add when I got the memos.)
We're expanding. Yay.

You'll note I STILL haven't gone to Chicago yet...I don't know when that's gonna happen.

Did get notification that they are eliminating one of the operators in my department. He's outta here come July 31st. Kinda sad to see him go, really..I thought he was startig to improve..too little too late, I guess.

We might be losin another guy, soon, too. He's had this big lawsuit, and he finally won, so he may be going back to work for the bus company. I guess he got a pretty big settlement. I'd be happy, too. LOL

Ah well..nothin more for now. Keep those checks comin!

Not common, I know...but, I'm bored. Sandi isn't online to distract me, so I figured I'd get one done, and then maybe one on Monday, if you kids are good.

Had a brief chat with my boss today. In his hand were the signed papers tellin me that I could go to college. I told him then, flat out, what my intentions were. I want to go to Glendale Community College and take as many classes THERE as I can, but on MY schedule, not a full college schedule all at once. I've been outta school for 10 years. Cut me some slack, Jack.

He was relieved. He'd heard that UOP wasn't the best way to get an education, because they were so damn expensive. He sounded like he'd sign off on anything. That's good news.

I applied for another job within the bank earlier this week. Senior admin asst. 15000 more than I make now. They called yesterday. The job had already been filled, and they just forgot to pull the job posting. Dammit.

Sandi, I want info on a pharmacy tech. That seems like a cool job.

9 branches left to test by the 30th. :) I'm happy.

Glendale classes, btw, are $33 per credit hour. $99 per class. (according to one of my coworkers) UOP, is $1244 per class. You do the math.

Philip is now awake, and sitting behind me. Hasn't said a word yet. I haven't even beaten him today! *smirk*

Shawna needs to leave her cell phone number in my room so I can call her while I'm sleeping. (long story, and don't post ANY numbers here. I'll talk with you about this later.)

Sotik states that he had some stuff to discuss with me, but we didn't get a chance to talk about that the last time we chatted. We'll have to do that soon. Also, I made a few changes, and am considering making a few more. Well, one more, but it won't be till the end of the month.

Jen. :) Got up early this morning (she slept yesterday afternoon, and woke up at 1am. I called her at 3 to make sure she was up. We chatted, and hung up. Then she comes down to my work with a soda and some doughnuts. :) What a sweetheart. I should clarify. Brought doughnuts not just for me, but for EVERYONE. (2 dozen) She used to work there, so she knows most of my coworkers. But I was glad she came down. I've been missin her. Me sleepin later takes time from us. I'll have to fix that.

Kim, I haven't seen you post recently, so I hope you're okay. Let me know.

Orchid should be back from her vacation on Monday, if not sooner.

Heaven is gonna get her admin status pulled. (Just kidding)

Hope, are you still in DC?

Joebo, ya lush! (enough said)

I think I covered just about everyone on my friends list. Therefore, I need more friends. If you read my journal, and I don't know it (clap my hands) let me know.

:D

First off: :Þ to the two people who were thinkin that I wouldn't get around to my update today.

Now then. I wish I could say I have something of earth shattering importance to divulge, but I don't. Another week. No excitement.

Phil's outta school. Ashley still comes over to fill in for the few hours that neither Jen nor myself are here. Then, she keeps an eye on the kids so I can get a bit of sleep. Gotta admit, it's been nice being able to get more than an hours' worth of sleep at once.

Worked a grand total of 3 days last week. Took Monday and Tues off for vacation, since it was my 2nd weddin anniversary. Not that anything special happened, but hey, I was here.

Left work Friday night with 22 branches left to test by the end of the month. Should be easy to knock the rest out. With luck, most will be done by the time I get to work. Which means less that I have to report to the big shots.

Philip did get in a bit of trouble. He somehow cut Shelbie with a toy. On her wrist. So she's got a nice cut. I wasn't happy.

I need to take a trip to the dentist sometime soon. Had an infected tooth or somethin last week. I killed the pain and got rid of the infection, but it's only a matter of time before it comes back. Need to get it fixed before it does.

That's all for now, I suppose. Maybe I'll think of more later, but this will do it for now.
